High Hand Pegging question

I have an old cribbage board that has a section for pegging High Hands, Skunks, Games, and Points. We don't know what the High Hand means? Any ideas?

I'm guessing it means the person who scored the highest hand in the game. In some tournaments there is a special prize for this.
